Excel V+ is a medical-grade laser designed to treat vascular and pigment-related skin concerns with precision and safety. It uses two clinically proven wavelengths of light to selectively target haemoglobin in blood vessels and melanin in pigment, allowing it to effectively treat visible redness and discolouration without damaging the surrounding skin.
By delivering controlled thermal energy into the skin, Excel V+ works to collapse unwanted vessels, reduce excess pigment, and support overall skin clarity. The treatment is suitable for the face and body and can be tailored to a wide range of skin types and concerns.
What can it treat?
Excel V+ is particularly effective for rosacea, diffuse facial redness, broken capillaries, spider veins, and cherry angiomas. It can also address certain forms of pigmentation such as sun damage, age spots, and uneven skin tone, and can improve overall skin clarity with reduced flushing and visible irritation.
What does the treatment feel like?
Excel V+ treatments are generally well tolerated. Patients often describe the sensation as a quick, light snapping or warming feeling as the laser energy is delivered. Most treatments do not require numbing cream, and the procedure is performed with minimal discomfort.
What is the recovery like?
Following treatment, most patients experience mild redness and a sensation similar to mild sunburn. This generally settles within a few hours to one to two days, though mild redness may persist for up to three days. Recovery is often faster than this.
For certain vascular lesions such as broken capillaries or cherry angiomas, the treated area may appear slightly darker before gradually fading as the body naturally clears the vessel.
What aftercare is required?
Daily use of a broad-spectrum SPF is strongly recommended. Direct sun exposure, excessive heat, and activities that increase skin temperature, such as saunas and vigorous exercise, should be avoided for 24 to 48 hours. A gentle skincare routine is advised, avoiding active ingredients such as retinoids or exfoliating acids until the skin has fully settled.
How long does a session take?
A treatment session takes approximately 15 to 45 minutes depending on the size and number of areas being treated.
How many treatments will I need?
Isolated superficial lesions may respond well to one or two sessions. For more widespread redness, rosacea, or diffuse vascular concerns, a series of four to six treatments spaced approximately six weeks apart is typically recommended. The practitioner will assess your skin and develop a personalised treatment plan.
